Oh friends, it has been so long since I blogged anything. Life has just been a whirlwind of activity! I'll try to give you a run-down of my goings on over the last few weeks.
I organized a trip to Shipshewana, Indiana (we gals like to call it "Shipsy") back in late July and oh, was it ever a good time! There's a wonderful flea market there where I was able to pick up a number of Christmas presents for those difficult-to-buy-for friends and relatives as well as some lovely home decor items for myself. I'm trying to phase out the Home Interiors products that I went overboard buying back in the late 80s ... time to turn over a new leaf I say! If anyone is in need of some antique brass leaf wall hangings or sconces, I have about 7 sets.
Next on the list was a trip to Birch Run with the kids to buy school clothes. Tom's single sister, Tina went with us for this one. She's such a dear gal and was a great help on this trip. She's a pretty conservative dresser, so while Tom Jr. and I shopped, I sent her to shop with the girls without having to worry about them coming back with any mini skirts or bare midriff tops! Luckily they found everything they needed in one store. Praise the Lord for Dress Barn!
Next came an unexpected trip to San Francisco, California. I have a dear friend in Denver (we went to the same church in college for a while) who asked for my help in moving her brother to from California to Colorado. She thought it would be nice for me to get out of the midwest for a few days. She's one of these more open-minded, modern single gals that I just wonder about sometimes, but boy was this a fun trip! California is not nearly as flat as Michigan. Those hills in San Francisco really gave me a workout! I told Tom I would have buns of steel by the time I got back to Grandville. He really likes it when I say things like that. My girlfriend's brother is a real treat too. He has made friends with a lot of the gays out there in SF ... such nice people. There really aren't too many of them around West Michigan, at least not that I have met. I would really like to find some of the gays back here in Michigan and become friends with them. I'll admit I have an ulterior motive, though ... I bet they are really great at scrapbooking and I'm looking for some new ideas.
So we drove from SF to Denver together and I got to operate the i-pod. It was loads of fun -- and I think I'm asking Tom to buy me one for Christmas! I would appreciate your prayers for my friend, though. I noticed that almost all of the music on her pod was secular. I remember when she used to listen to 4Him and Michael W. Smith. It's heartbreaking, really. On the upside, though - I found that I really enjoy listening to Earth, Wind and Fire! I was not familiar with their music until this road trip. It's quite catchy!
Now I am back at home in Grandville and it's time to drop the pears into my jello salad, so I must say farewell for now. I hope that you all have a blessed Labor Day with those near and dear to you.
Blessings,
Bonnie

Very good to hear from you Bonnie! Sounds like you have been as busy as a bee, like me! I just wonder if you saw my sister in law down at Shipsy. You know, I grew up just 45 minutes from there. Anyway, Beth bought some vadalia onion relish, a new potholder set (hand made!), and some cheese spread. She also showed me some of her bulk spices, oh my the money you can save buying a pound of cinnamon at a time!
I have been busy myself. I canned 30 pints of regular salsa, 10 pints of yellow salsa (my very own recipe), and am in the middle of canning spagetti sauce. I hope to get about 12-16 quarts. I must say though, I am slipping in my conservatism. I added..... jalepenos! Quite spicy! Maybe too spicy. I may can them in pint jars instead, due to the spicy wild nature of the sauce.
Well, I hope your friend's brother enjoys Colorado. I was just in Colorado this spring. What a lovely place. You must tell them about this wonderful old fashioned hard candy factory. The tours are FREE! Here is the web site, in case they want to visit it. http://www.hammondscandies.com/ I was there with my nieces and nephews in May. They make those delicious hard candies my grandparents used to bless us with when we visited.
Oh, here I go, typing too much again. I better sign off and get my beauty sleep
Blessings!

Oh Dear Bonnie.....it is so good to get on here and caught up again with all your goings on. I must say now-you have been quite the busy gal! It sounds like you had a grand time in the San Francisco Bay area. It is just a grand place isnt it! I have a dear relative that used to live there and I must say we created some fond memories there too-that was quite some time ago when I myself was a bit more wayward...but I know what you mean about those gay folk-they are among some of the most colorful people I have ever known! I remember we had some good times in this area I believe on Polk sreet....whoa well my goodness...all this talk is swaying my mind to places where it should not go I must say! Fond though none the less. Well I hope your friends brother enjoys his new home in the Denver area too dear Bonnie-and oh I just love those Earth Wind and Fire fellas too-pretty catchy tunes-part of my past I just can not let go of. Well dear I must keep movin....Horace and I are not seeing each other any more. He has just been taking me down roads that I know should not be traveled so I had to end the chapter of Horace in my life-its just not of the Lord-ya know? Well Im off to get in a little running and some gardening. Godspeed my friend and many blessings coming your way. In his love, Marcie
