Dutch Sangria, anyone?

Oh gals -

The Tater Tot Casserole was once again a big hit! Tom, the kids & I had a wonderful evening of fellowshipping together as a family last night. We finished off the whole 2 liter of Root Beer! Oh dear! Sadly, our VCR ate our tape of "Turner and Hooch", but we watched "Free Willy" instead, which is just about as good.

But here's a thought for tonight: Later this afternoon the kids will be going with their youth group to do some ministry to the people of Burnips. Then they'll be staying over night at one of the leader's homes and going to church together in the morning. Tom's ball team is playing tonight and having a men's fellowship afterwards. And you know, youth group + men's fellowship = 1 HAPPY BONNIE with a night to herself! So I'm planning to make a pot of Dutch Sangria. It's the greatest thing ever. See, Tom took me to a fancy Spanish restaurant in downtown Grand Rapids once and this lovely young fella who waited on us suggested that we try some Sangria. Well, let me tell you. It was wonderful! But it wasn't until I went to make it at home later that I realized how expensive it is! So I came up with my own recipe: Mix a can of Juicy Juice, a bottle of Boone's farm and a can of fruit cocktail. Serve over ice and voyla! You've got yourself quite a treat! (Now I know why those Spanish gals seem to be so happy all of the time.)

Care to join me, ladies? I'd love to see you. And Tom would really rather not leave me at home all alone with a whole pot of my "magic juice." That's what he likes to call it.

ok! Off to Meijer!

Blessings,
Bonnie

ps - Marcia, do you have another date with Horace tonight? I'll pray for the Lord to guide and direct you in this relationship. But I really think you need to spend some time with the gals. Hope to see you soon!

Bonnie,

So sorry I wasn't able to join you on Saturday night. Doug and I had a family obligation we needed to attend to. I so would have enjoyed sampling your Sangria!

Now you're off to Minnesota! You and the girls have fun! Take lots of pictures at the Creative Memories Headquarters for me. That would be a neat thing to include in your scrapbook! Well, I need to start thinking of what to make for dinner this evening. You know how Doug enjoys having a homecooked meal on the table when he comes home from work in the evenings. (Although as hot as it is, I sure would enjoy a night out at Russ'.)

Take care!

Marcie-
Don't worry about messing up on your name. I went to one of those interfaith bible studies. You know the ones with ladies from the Christian Reformed, the Reformed, the Independent Reformed and the United Reformed churches. Well, this one really mixed it up and had women from the Protestant Reformed church also, a really interfaith group. Any whoo, they spelled my name DeYoung on my name tag. Well let me tell you, all these women kept asking me if I was related to so and so or what about this person. I spent the whole day telling people that name was DeJonge with "J". Oh what a crazy day that was. So don't worry about mixing up your name. Crazy things happen.

Oh gals, it's been quite a day. Tammy was working on her 4-H project and the darn sewing machine wouldn't wind a bobbin to save our soul. We had to take it over to the Singer shop and have them look at it. She's making a beautiful taffeta gown she hopes to wear the Father Daughter Banquet at the 175th Reformed Church of Borculo.

Bonnie and Loie, didn't you know the pastor from out there? A little short fella? What's his name again?

They've asked her to play the piano at their banquet. My Marty will be escorting her to the banquet. I've heard it's a good church, they still sing from hymnals, unlike some of these big mega churches you hear about.

Well, it's time for our family devotionals before the kids scoot off to bed. Toodaloo!

Lois, Thanks more than you can know about those kind words about my little foul up with the name. Makes me feel loads better. I'd just love to meet you gals. What say we get Bonnie to throw another one of those sangria shindigs! Heck I could even bring some pork sandwiches. Horace is going hog hunting and you best believe he'll get him a hog or two! That would just be tons of fun. I couldnt make that last one-but I can think of nothing more fun than meeting all of you gals in person! You are all just little blessings from the Lord. And Bonnies right-I need more gal time and keep things with Horace at arms length ya know? Well smooches Lo and thanks again for those kind words...you're a real peach. I hope you have a grand day. Smooches! Marcie

bonnie - this weekend a friend and i made an even more cost effective dutch sangria. all we used was a bottle of boones farm and 7-up. I think it was about a half and half mix. I didn't know how it was going to turn out, but it was fantastic. I thought of you while we were enjoying it. Are you going down to ah-nab-ah-wen park for the GR fireworks tomorrow, or are you staying in Grandville?
